I {Heart} Faces. Fix-It Friday 2-26-10.

The photography website I ♥ Faces encourages and advises all levels of photographers.  Amateur and Professional photographers come together to give advice, compliment, teach and promote photography.  Early in the week they host a theme challenge.  This week it was “Hands On” and I entered this picture.  On Fridays they host Fix-It-Friday.  They provide a photo that you can work on and link back to the photo.  I think it is fascinating to see the multitude of fixes, all different and creative.  If you have an interest in photography, this website is for you.

This was a busy, full week at work and home, so I kinda’ feel like I got nothin’ today.  Brain. Fried.    When I saw the Fix-It Friday picture, I wanted to focus on the girl’s sweet face, so this is what came out of my fried brain…..

First, the original picture:

Then my fried brain said:

Try #1

Try #2

I use Picnik for photo editing.  I wrote about them earlier here and here.  A lot of the photographers on I ♥ Faces use Photoshop and it works beautifully.  Picnik is more my price range and  it has plenty of options for me – I haven’t even figured out how to use everything it does!  Go by I ♥ Faces and check out all the great edits.

Happy Friday and have a safe weekend.

Wordless Wednesday

From Answers.com: On Wednesdays all over the internet, bloggers post a photograph with no words to explain it on their blog. Hence the ‘wordless’ title. The idea is that the photo itself says so much that it doesn’t need any description.

How to Part Your Hair with Attitude

A lady woke one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed that she had only three hairs on her head.

“Well,” she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today.” So she did, and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed she had only two hairs on her head.

“Hmmm,” she said, “I think I’ll part my hair in the middle today.”  So she did, and she had a great day.

The next day, she woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.

“Well,” she said, “I think I’ll wear my hair in a ponytail.”  So she did, and she had a grand day.

The next day, she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that there wasn’t a single hair on her head.

“Yea,” she exclaimed. “I don’t have to fix my hair today.”

Attitude is everything!

I {Heart} Faces. “Hands On” Challenge

I ♥ Faces usually focuses on faces (DUH) but they change emphasis from time to time.  This week’s I ♥ Faces Monday challenge is “Hands On.”  The photo I am using is very special to me.  I look at it and it brings a multitude of emotions and memories to mind.  My friend Lana was fighting lung cancer and another friend and I went to Nashville to surprise her after surgery.  This picture was taken while we were visiting.   Lana had a large support system, many of whom wore a Go Girl ring for her.  This picture shows some of the hands that prayed and ministered to Lana, hands that wrote letters and cards, made meals, wiped her forehead, held her hand, comforted her.  Lana is gone, but she is so close to me when I look at this picture.

Go check out the lovely hands at

Philips Digital Photoframe + Regifting

One of the fun aspects of blogging is getting to meet other bloggers, both physically and virtually.  One blogger who makes me laugh and is very friendly (and loves Dr. Pepper) is ScrewedUpTexan.  Well, you gotta’ love her just because she’s from Texas and drinks Dr. Pepper, but I’m becoming a fan of her writing and humor.

Texan recently wrote a post about regifting and is actually hosting a giveaway of a regift.  But a good regift.  She is giving a Philips Home Essentials 7 Inch Digital Photoframe.  Don’t worry, she’s not giving it away because it’s old and worn out or broken. It’s new and still in the original box.  She already has a digital photoframe, so she wanted to share with the blogosphere.
