Alex Came A’Knockin.

Wow, we’ve been hit hard with rain from Hurricane Alex.  Thank goodness we didn’t get the storm winds with the rain.

This is directly behind our house.  24 hours ago, this was a greenbelt with a small creek running through.  Now, it is a lake.  If only we had a boat!  I marked where our back fence line is.  There is no back portion of our fence because Hurricane Ike blew it down.  We put up the side fences because we share them with neighbors.  We want a particular fence for the back and are waiting to pay for a hundred other things before paying for that.  During Tropical Storm Allison (Sept 2001), this water came across our back yard and within a foot of our backdoor.

Little J wishes the creek looked like this all the time.  He loves to fish and he could just walk out the backdoor to throw his line.

On the other side of this greenbelt is a major park.  That’s where the July 4th fireworks are fired from.  We sit in our front yard to watch them.  Wondering how conditions will be by Sunday night.

Good night to stay in.

  2. It’s rained all day here at the lake too. Wade and Jeff headed out of H today and said it had been bad!

    • Oh, you’re back? It looks like you had a fab trip!

  3. That is crazy, I can’t imagine my back yard like that.
